Stylish 2025 Audi S5 Sportback Gains 500-HP Plug-in Hybrid and Ritzy Colors in CGI

2024-06-17 11:22:22

The Ingolstadt-based German automaker is undergoing massive changes right now – and they hope to clear out the confusion but could achieve the exact opposite.

We had noticed that Audi made a little distinction when they introduced the Q6 e-tron battery electric compact luxury crossover SUV, the zero-emissions counterpart of the popular Q5 – the carmaker gave up the confusing engine naming scheme. However, more changes are coming in terms of monikers.

More precisely, as with the Q5 and Q6 e-tron pair, the company will start implementing a differentiated ICE versus EV nameplate strategy. As such, odd numbers will be reserved for traditional powertrains (including hybrids and PHEVs), while the even figures will only involve the e-tron zero emissions vehicles from now on.

As such, the next generation A4 series, which is currently in development, will be amassed with the A5 family, thus turning the nameplate into the host of sedans, station wagons, Sportback, and more body styles, as well as the sporty S and RS models. Naturally, it will be a little hard to keep track of them, at first.

But, at least as far as the Audi S5 Sportback is concerned, things will be mostly the same. The current B9 iteration has been offered with quattro all-wheel drive in coupe, cabriolet, and Sportback (a fastback sedan) formats since late 2017. The powertrain is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 packing 349 horsepower and 500 Nm or 369 lb-ft of torque. In America, for example, the 2024MY costs from $57,500 and still has one of the most stylish designs in the Audi range alongside its larger S7 Sportback cousin.

Thus, when the time comes, fans sure hope that Audi won't go crazy with split-headlight styling or anything like that as they plan on certain models. It seems even the rumor mill, along with the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, feels the same way – and at least based on the latest spied prototypes, it seems that everyone agrees, including the OEM.

Most of the styling changes are pretty logical – when Audi doesn't go crazy, they like a subdued appearance. As such, it is no wonder that even across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI (AutoYa), the next S5 Sportback is closely related in terms of design to the rest of the back and its predecessor. At least the channel’s pixel master proposes, as always, a ton of ritzy CGI shades to accompany it.

Inside, the cockpit is as functional as possible. The channel's host also contemplates the possibility that Audi will fit a new plug-in hybrid powertrain, giving the S5 Sportback access to no less than 500 horsepower under the hood. So, what do you think? Is that even possible when there's also an RS 5 coming along the line?
